Building/Permitting

​Anyone looking to build within the city limits must first apply for a building permit (see application below) and pay the fee of $20.00 for the first $10,000 of the project and $1.00 for every $1,000 over the initial $10,000. Any contractors involved are required to apply for a City Business License at a cost of $16.00 and an up front Business & Occupation tax of 1% of the gross project amount. The building permit application will be reviewed by the City Manager and all work must wait for the building permit to be approved.

Online payments can be made at go.wv.gov/stmarys.

Any credit/debit card payments made online or in person will incur a $1.00 + 2.2% convenience fee.
